What happens when you mix sodium carbonate and hydrogen sulphate?

When you mix sodium carbonate and hydrogen sulfate, a double displacement reaction takes place. This results in the formation of sodium sulfate and carbonic acid. Carbonic acid is unstable and decomposes into carbon dioxide and water.

What happens when butonoic acid and sodium hydroxide mix together?

When butyric acid (butanoic acid) and sodium hydroxide mix together, a neutralization reaction occurs, forming sodium butyrate salt and water. Sodium butyrate is a salt that is often used in food additives and in the pharmaceutical industry.

What happens when you mix sodium hydroxide with lactic acid?

When sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is mixed with lactic acid (C₃H₆O₃), a neutralization reaction occurs where the sodium hydroxide reacts with the lactic acid to form sodium lactate and water. The result is a salt, sodium lactate, and water as the byproduct.

What happens if you mix distilled water and sodium hydroxide?

When you mix distilled water with sodium hydroxide, the sodium hydroxide will dissolve in the water, releasing hydroxide ions. This will result in the formation of a basic solution due to the presence of hydroxide ions, which can cause the solution to become caustic and potentially harmful if not handled properly.

What happens when you mix CO2 and sodium hydroxide?

When CO2 gas is mixed with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution, it reacts to form sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) and water (H2O). The reaction can be represented by the equation: CO2 + 2NaOH → Na2CO3 + H2O.
