Atoms are made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons. The protons and neutrons are found together in the core of the atom, called the nucleus, which is in the center. The electrons are found moving around the nucleus (at different energy levels) in what is called the electron cloud.
Note that in hydrogen, most all of it is made up of just a lone proton and an electron. There are no neutrons in the most common isotope of hydrogen (1H).

Protons and neutrons, which are called nucleons when they're found in an atomic nucleus, are further made of still smaller subatomic particles called quarks.

Protons- These are the positive particles that make up the nucleus. The number of protons determines what element an atom is. All atoms with 92 protons are Uranium, all protons with 3 protons are lithium, ect.

Neutrons- These are the neutral particles that make up the nucleus. The mass of a neutron is almost identical to the mass of a proton. The number of neutrons determines which isotope of an a element a certain element is. So if a Carbon atom has 8 neutrons, it is Carbon14 (because it also has 6 protons.)

Electrons- These are the negative particles that "orbit" the nucleus. They have barely any mass compared to protons and neutrons. They determine the chemical properties of an element. All atoms have the same number of protons and electrons, which is why atoms are neutral.
