Viscosity changes when another agent is added to a fluid. For example, paint has a fairly thick viscosity and if intending to apply it using a spray gun, one would need to add thinners, varsol, or turpentine to the paint to thin it out so that it will pass through the gun. Thus changing the viscosity.

No, viscosity is a physical property of a substance that describes its resistance to flow. It is not a chemical change because it does not involve any change in the chemical composition or properties of the substance.

It changes by rising temperatures and lowering temperatures.

Higher temperature= Less viscosity (resistance)

Lower temperature= More viscosity (resistance)

Both. It could be categorised as physical chemistry. Physics studies the phenomenon in macroscopic terms, and chemists explain the cause of viscosity on a molecular level.

Is viscosity a chemical or a physical change?

viscosity is a physical characteristic not a physical change. it is the thickness of a substancephysical changes would be if it turned from solid into a liquid.for example a chocolate bar goes through a physical change when it becomes melted chocolate.

How can you be certain that a chemical change has occurred?

Some signs that indicate a chemical change has occurred include the formation of a gas, a precipitate, a color change, or the release of heat or light. Chemical changes involve the breaking and forming of chemical bonds, resulting in the creation of new substances with different properties than the original reactants.

What would indicate that a chemical change may be occurring?

Some indications that a chemical change may be occurring include the formation of a precipitate, a change in color, the evolution of gas, or a change in temperature. These can all suggest that a new substance is being formed with different chemical properties than the starting materials.

How will you know that a chemical reaction has occurred?

You can identify a chemical reaction by observing changes such as the formation of a gas, a precipitate, heat, light, or a color change. Moreover, you may notice changes in properties such as odor, temperature, or pH levels. Testing for the presence of new substances or products can also confirm a chemical reaction has taken place.

When two substances are mixed they might form a new substance What would indicate that a new substance has been formed?

A new substance is formed when there is a chemical reaction resulting in a change in chemical composition. Indications include a change in color, formation of a precipitate, evolution of gas, or change in temperature.

How could you change the viscosity of the substances?

You can change the viscosity of a substance by adjusting its temperature- generally, increasing temperature decreases viscosity and vice versa. You can also alter the composition of the substance by adding viscosity modifiers or solvents to increase or decrease viscosity accordingly. Mixing different substances together can also affect the overall viscosity of the mixture.
