Water is homogeneous.
-------------------------------------------------
Actually natural water is heterogeneous as it is a mixture of H2O and a very tiny amount of D2O. The D2O (i.e. heavy water) has higher mass than H2O and slightly different chemical properties. However for ordinary practical purposes the presence of this D2O can usually be ignored.
1. Pure (distilled), degassed water is not a mixture. It is a compound because it contains all of the same molecule, H2O. 2. Distilled, non-degassed water is a homogenous mixture. It will have gases such as argon, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide dissolved in it. The solution is homogeneous because the components are mixed at a microscopic level. 3. Tap water is DEFINITELY a homogeneous mixture. It contains ions, dissolved gases, bacteria, etc. But unless you are seeing brown chunks or a sediment floating around in it the water is still a homogeneous mixture since its components are again mixed at a microscopic level.
Gravel and H2O (water) would be considered a mixture. Gravel does not dissolve in water, so the two substances would remain physically separate in the container.
No, a mosquito is an organism and not a mixture. A heterogeneous mixture is a combination of different substances that are not uniformly distributed.
Fruit salad is a heterogeneous mixture because it contains different components that can be visually distinguished, such as pieces of various fruits.
Heterogenous, because the components are unevenly mixed throughout. However, smooth salsa is more homogeneous, and chunky is more heterogeneous. ;)
Brass is an example of a heterogeneous mixture because it is composed of two or more different substances that are not uniformly distributed throughout the mixture.
No, water is a pure substance, a compound: H2O, so it is no mixture at all!

Water (H2O) is a chemical compound.
Distilled water is a compound, not a mixture, because it is just pure H2O.
Pure water (H2O) is a chemical compound; if the water is impure may be a homogeneous or heterogeneous mixture.
