Chlorine for swimming pool usage is made to be Chlorine neutral (7,0) as to not raise or lower the pH.

∙ 13y agoChlorine itself is not an acid or alkaline substance. When chlorine is dissolved in water, it forms hydrochloric acid, which is acidic.
Wiki User
∙ 9y agoChlorine the element itself is neither an acid nor a base. However, it will react with water to form hydrochloric and hypochlorous acids
Wiki User
∙ 13y agoChloride (Cl -1) is a negligible conjugate base because it dissociates from the strong acid HCl.
Wiki User
∙ 13y agoNo, chlorine is an element, acids are a category of compounds. Elements are never acids.
It is a strong oxidizing agent, however.

Chlorine is not an acid or alkaline itself. However, when combined with water it forms hydrochloric acid, which is acidic in nature.
Hominy is alkaline, with a pH above 7.
Tuna fish is considered to be slightly acidic in nature.
Copper sulfate is an acidic compound and not alkaline. It is a salt of sulfuric acid and its pH is typically below 7.
Paraffin is neither an acid nor an alkaline. It is a type of hydrocarbon wax typically derived from petroleum or shale oil and is chemically neutral.
Chlorine is not an acid or alkaline itself. However, when combined with water it forms hydrochloric acid, which is acidic in nature.
Chlorine bleach is an alkaline, or base.
It is a neutral gas that bleaches damp litmus paper. Gases themselves are not acidic/alkaline, it is only when they are combined with hydrogen ions (Hence the damp litmus paper) that they become acidic/alkaline and in this case acidic.

Alkaline
No, an acid is an acid and an alkaline is alkaline. They are essentially opposites and will react with one another. The product depends on the specific reactants
acid
alkaline because in NaOH, Na is plus and OH is minus. when hydrogen is plus it is an acid when it is negative it is a base (alkaline)
is popcorn, poped in coconut oil, acid or alkaline
Chlorogenic acid has nothing to do with chlorine. Basically greek work "chloros" means green. The nomenclature of this compound is derived because of its solution color. Chlorogenic acid is derived from GREEN coffee beans, alkaline solutions turn GREEN upon exposure to air. lamely put "green color"- "genic" producing. Chlorine is also derived from the same greek work. Chlorine is a green gas and hence related to chloros. Similarly chlorophyll and chlorite.
