Oxygen from the air is absorbed through the alveoli of the lungs and attaches itself to Haemoglobin in the bloodstream, becoming "Oxyhaemoglobin" which is bright red in colour and unstable in its nature.

Transported by the blood it is then absorbed by the cells to be used by them.

Oxygen is carried around the body by red blood cells in the blood. The respiratory system takes in oxygen from the air we breathe, which then travels to the lungs where it is transferred to the bloodstream. The red blood cells then distribute the oxygen to tissues and organs throughout the body.

What is oxygen content of the body?

Oxygen content in the body refers to the amount of oxygen present in the blood. This is measured as arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2) or oxygen partial pressure (PaO2). Adequate oxygen content is vital for proper functioning of organs and tissues in the body.

Where does the blood go after it picks up oxygen?

After picking up oxygen in the lungs, blood travels to the heart's left side and is pumped out to the rest of the body through the aorta. From there, the oxygenated blood circulates through the body's arteries, delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissues and organs.

What happens when too little oxygen is pumped round the body?

When too little oxygen is pumped around the body, cells and tissues may not receive enough oxygen to function properly. This can lead to symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, dizziness, and eventually cell damage. In severe cases, it can result in organ failure or death.

What supply of oxygen exist in the body at any time?

The body's oxygen supply primarily comes from breathing air into the lungs, where oxygen is absorbed by red blood cells and then transported throughout the body. Additionally, oxygen is stored in the body in the form of oxyhemoglobin in the blood and myoglobin in muscle tissue. The body can also store a reserve of oxygen in the form of dissolved oxygen in the blood and tissues.

How does the heart supply the body with oxygen?

The heart pumps oxygen-rich blood to the entire body through the circulatory system. Blood picks up oxygen in the lungs and then is pumped by the heart to deliver the oxygen to all cells and tissues in the body. This process ensures that the body's cells have the oxygen they need to function properly.

What transports oxygen within the blood?

Why do you have to have oxygen when you go outer space?
