CO2 has a distinct smell, faint, but still distintict. Also, if you inhale it you will start to pant due to a lack of oxygen. That is how you can tell.

Ayraayra: acutally the "panting" or increased breathing rate is due to the build up of CO2 not because the lack of O2.

CO2 can be detected using various methods, such as gas sensors or chemical indicators that change color in the presence of CO2. Additionally, instruments like infrared spectrometers can analyze a sample to determine the presence of CO2 by measuring its absorption of specific wavelengths of light.

When a fuel burns what determines whether co or co2 will be produced?

The presence of oxygen levels during the combustion process determines whether carbon monoxide (CO) or carbon dioxide (CO2) will be produced. Incomplete combustion at lower oxygen levels leads to CO formation, while complete combustion at higher oxygen levels results in CO2 production. Temperature and reaction time also play a role in determining the ratio of CO to CO2 produced.

What are the ions present in the compound CO2?

In carbon dioxide (CO2), there are no ions present. CO2 is a covalent compound composed of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms, held together by covalent bonds.

How will you know whether the carbon dioxide has disappeared from the solutions in the test tube?

You can introduce a pH indicator, such as bromothymol blue, into the solution. Carbon dioxide forms carbonic acid when dissolved in water, which lowers the pH of the solution. The color change of the indicator from yellow (acidic) to blue (basic) would indicate the disappearance of carbon dioxide.

Why does an increase of NaOH indicate an increase of CO2?

An increase in NaOH consumption during a titration with CO2 indicates an increase in CO2 concentration because CO2 reacts with NaOH to form sodium carbonate. The greater the amount of CO2 present, the more NaOH will be consumed to neutralize it.

How many moles of cop2 are present in 4.00 l of CO2 gas at stp?

By using the ideal gas law, at STP (standard temperature and pressure), 1 mole of any ideal gas occupies 22.4 liters. Therefore, in 4.00 liters of CO2 gas at STP there would be 4.00/22.4 = 0.179 moles of CO2 present.

Which animal brethe CO2?

Plants split co2 to create sugar. Animals breathe co2 only because it is already present in the air and in their bodies as a byproduct.
