To get candle wax out of carpet, I place a paper towel on the wax and use a warm iron on the towel and it melts the wax which will loosen from the carpet and stick to the paper towel. I haven't had the problem on a fabric couch before, but it works on carpet. It might be worth a shot. Good Luck.

To remove candle wax from a fabric couch, first place a few ice cubes in a plastic bag and place it on the wax to harden it. Once hardened, carefully scrape off the wax with a blunt knife. Then, place a paper towel over the remaining wax and use a warm iron to melt and absorb the wax into the paper towel.

Why did the smoke from the extinguished candle reignite the candle?

because, when the wax is lit it burns off as a vapor, when the candle was extinguished the wax vapor was still in the air, and the wax acts as fuel for the flame of a candle, so the flame combusted and lit the vapor, leading back to the candle wick.
