Nitric-oxide is used in automobiles, drag racers, to boost the amount of oxygen available to the engine. It causes a rapid burn. Where it is dangerous is that it will make any flame burn rapidly and sometimes out of control or at an explosive rate. Although it doesn't burn by itself, it can cause an explosion in the right combination with fuel.

Nitrogen oxides can be harmful to human health and the environment. They contribute to air pollution and smog, which can exacerbate respiratory issues and lead to environmental damage such as acid rain. High levels of nitrogen oxide can also contribute to the formation of ground-level ozone, which can have negative impacts on human health.
