I don't think any particular video games are "banned" by the Roman Catholic Church however, the Church being a Christian organization would rather one avoided any games which included violence or anything which degraded oneself or anyone else.
In state schools it was banned in 1987. In private schools it was banned in 1999 (England and Wales) and 2000 (Scotland).
