Because, a wedding planner will have invest into that wedding. Every wedding is different and unique. I have to travel to see and make arangements with my vendors., often what I am looking for is 6 hours drive time away. Also it is a security deposit, if I invested 3 months into an event, and couple decides to postpone the wedding 2 weeks before the event, my vendors will ask for reimbursment. If I am ordering flowers from Holland for example, I am in big big trouble.

Usually 10-15% of the wedding cost.
The cost of a wedding planner may vary by location.Normally you can expect to pay about 10 percent of your total budget for your planner.
The wedding planner is the one that should tell you how many times you need to see him or her. It generally takes three meetings. Going the first time to talk over prices and deciding what you want the wedding planner to do; another meeting to go over everything the wedding planner has been asked to do and then a third time to go over it just to be sure everything is done by the wedding planner that you want done and to pay the bill.
The wedding couple will pay for the lost deposit for a cancelled wedding in Michigan. Not all places will require you to put down a deposit.
If you find one that doesn't I'd run to other way it's not likely a good planner . deposit schedule increases as planning progresses. in fact, you should expect the entire affair to be price scaled to pay off entire event in full before the actual date. this is to insure payment in full. "you had a spot on the silver... I'm not paying" a smart planner could even require "over deposit" to allow reasonable breakage, missing crystalware & Silver place settings that "walk away".
What is your question? Is it1. If a professional wedding planner is getting married, do they pay for their own wedding?OR is your question2. Do professional wedding planners pay for their clients weddings? If your question is #1 then of course they pay for their weddings, planners are people just like anyone else; who have to pay for goods and services but being a planner they should have a good relationship with many vendors(photographers, stationers, bakers, florists, bands) and they will probably work out a discount with these vendors because they are friends and have professional relationships w/each other. If your question is #2 then the answer is No! why would a complete stranger pay for someone else's wedding? Wedding planners/coordinators are running a business, not a charity. A wedding planner plans, implements and coordinates all wedding related efforts for their clients, some even own event design companies that take care of florals, lighting, rentals and all decor as well as wedding planning but wedding planners get paid for planning weddings.
If you have a contract stating that you did indeed pay your money upfront that serves as a first and last months deposit, then there should not be any problem. If you do not have a contract, then the landlord can say that was a damage deposit...all depends on what you have in writing.
yes
Ask your mother, or family member, they should be the ones you trust and should know.
you will have to leave your deposit and then if it changes you will have to pay the new amaount. sorry for any inconvinences.
It is very hard and very time consuming to start your own wedding planning business. If you are hoping for this to be your only means for money, then to start of with you might want to have a part-time job doing something eles. Being a wedding planner you don't get a pay check every week.
