A 175hp Mercury outboard requires a 50:1 fuel to oil ratio.

Gas/Oil Mix = 50:1
50 to 1
I just purchased a 1977 merc 7.5 horse and the mechanic said to use 4 ounces of oil per gallon of gas.
It depends if it is a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke. A 2 stroke engine, you mix the gas and oil. A 4 stroke engine, there are separate tanks for the oil and gas.
I have a 1984 90hp Mercury outboard and the fuel mixture is 50:1 which is one pint of 2 cycle motor oil for every 6 gallons of gas.
I believe it is 50 : 1 (16 oz. oil to 6 gallons gas)
The fuel to oil ratio for a 9hp Mercury outboard is 50:1, roughly one pint of 2 cycle oil, to six gallons of fuel.
