The windward side of the boat is the side of the boat that the wind is hitting. the other side of the boat that is sheltered from the wind is the Leeward side. In other words ... the windward side of the boat is the side that is closest to the source of the wind.

Climb into the boat.
When you tack you push the tilter. That makes the boat to turn to the right. You are turning into the wind. You would turn windward when you tack.
Windward is where the wind is coming from and leeward is where the wind is going to. So if you want to beach your boat on a relatively safe shore, you would want to beach your craft on the leeward side of a particular island, where it is sheltered from the wind.
while boating, his boat overturned. he got pnemonia and died
Windward, always windward. Keep your boat on even heel by hiking out if necessary. This will prevent the daggerboard from coming up out of the water and causing loss of steering control.
Hang onto the boat or climb onto it. DO NOT leave the boat.

For safety reasons try to remain with the watercraft. Those trying to find you will have better chances looking for an overturned hull as opposed to heads bobbing up and down in the water. Also check to make sure everyone who was on the boat has been accounted for. If the boat hull is large enough you may be able to climb onto it.If this is a sailboat you can try to right it. This is done all the time on hobie cats.
You have to go under the boat and climb up the emergency boats
