If there had been more lifeboats aboard the Titanic, then yes more people could have been saved. There was time and capacity to save more lives even with the original amount of lifeboats, but because of the lack obvious signs of damage and danger, many were reluctant to leave the boat to get on the much smaller lifeboats. The lifeboats were designed to hold 40 people, but many were launched only partly full.
About one half of the people on board.
1,228 if all boats were filled to capacity.
the capacity of the boats on Titanic was 1,178. 2,208 people were sailing her the night of the sinking. If all seats were occupied, then 1030 people would still be on Titanic (as opposed to the 1,496 that really were).
not alot of people survived from the titanic... only about 900 people survived... the people on the titanic got saved from the carpathia(i think that's how you spell it) The total combined capacity of the boats was about 1200, however there were only 706 survivors. Everybody who got into the boats survived, the ones who were not in the boats either drowned or died of hypothermia in the ocean.
some people are saved in small boats. Woman and children first. More information in Kaspar King of Cats by Michael Morpurgo/My story - titanic
Well, at least 500 people weren't saved on the Titanic because 705 people died.
the ships life boats were lower and people got on except some people only wanted family on these boats so only 705 people were saved out of 2,200 people not counting the people who jumped of and three to swim
Some accounts vary, but regarding Titanic survivors rescuing other people, it seems that: #14 (Lowe's boat) saved 4, (one died) and #4 saved 8, (two died).Captain Rostron buried four victims at sea but three of them were alive when they boarded the rescue ship and the fourth was already dead during the operation.
1,496 people died and 712 people lived on Titanic.
Probably, yes. An unknown ship (rumoured to be the Californian) was spotted in the distance as the Titanic was sinking. It could have saved many if not all lives if it had went to the sinking Titanic.
1005
There was no rescue ship the life boats had to sail to the california which was 19 miles away :)
