The egg matures in a follicle on the ovary, once the follicle bursts the ripe egg drops into the fallopian tube, this is where the egg is normally fertilized. Following conception the newly fertilized egg spends several days traveling through the tube as it begins dividing - pregnancy is achieved when the embryo attaches to the lining of the uterus about 8 days after conception.
