That would depend on your station in life. Falconry in Medieval times was very much a Caste System. Your social status dictated what bird you were permitted to fly.
Falconry is legal in Forida. You must have a joint State and Federal permit in order to practice the sport. It also includes a 2 year apprenticeship. You do not own the bird but are a steward of the bird. Inspection if your equipment and housing is also required. Falconry is the most regulated field sport in the United Staes.
There is nothing wrong with falconry. Falconry is simply the sport of flying (and keeping) birds of prey. Most birds in falconry have been taken from homes. Falconers do not capture birds to train for two reasons: a) The bird will be used to the wild and catching it's own food. b) The person catching it will proberly be killed :) Hope this helps

This is a common misconception due to the owl always being depicted as wise in human culture. In actuality, owls are pretty much on the same intellectual level as most other raptors and birds, if not less intelligent on certain occasions. They can be used in falconry though, which requires intelligence for the bird to learn what the falconer wants of it, but owls do not always make the best falconry birds.
