If on land, swans will most likely try to escape into the water or into the sky. However, if it is a nesting swan, they will attack viciously with their beaks. Many kids poking around nests have had serious damage done to their face by the beaks, for the birds are unrelenting in protection of their offspring.

Swans are known to flap their wings or peck at enemies to make them go away. They can also make a hissing sound to scare predators.

it normally spreads its wings and starts charging, but some just bite.
