You can use a small but heavy spoon, such as a demitasse spoon or a spoon that is made for a child. Drill a hole in the handle about halfway down toward the bowl of the spoon, and attach it to the cage with a leather thong. The thong must be thick enough so that it cannot be twisted to form a noose.
Don't be alarmed if your bird does not use the new toy right away. It needs to get used to it, and will not regard it as an enemy after a week or two.
