Most lizards are borne with three eyes. They have 2 eyes that everyone can see but there is actually a third eye on top of their head that looks like a small bump. The third eye is just used for seeing light and dark.

In the case of the monitor lizard, if you were to hold one in your hand and cover this third eye, it causes the lizard to relax in your hand as the monitor lizard thinks he is safely tucked up under a rock.

Oh, what a delightful question! A peacock has two eyes, just like you and me. Their eyes are beautifully designed to help them see the world around them in vivid colors and patterns. Isn't nature just amazing?

2 eyes that they see out of, just like you and me. They also have what we call the "third eye", it's an odd coloured scale on the top of their heads. With this "eye" they can sense movement, heat and UVB rays.
