The human genome is a collection of long strands of molecule called DNA.

DNA is a long polymer, where different individual monomers (single units) are called base-pairs.

Certains segments of these strands (a few hundred to a few thousand base pairs) are called "genes".

A molecule called RNA polymerase localizes to the front of the gene, moves along the base pairs, "reads" the specific base-pair sequence, and creates a copy of the particular base pairs it reads (this process is called transcription).

The copy the RNA polymerase is an example of one "part". The part is usually modified to become something biologically useful (for example, it might go through another process called "translation" to become a protein).

The "Genome" refers to all of the genetic material (so all of the DNA, so all of the genes) in an organism.

Any genome (including the human genome) is a parts list because all biologically meaningful "parts" to the organism are encoded by a specific sequence of base pairs.

So.... the human genome is really a list of the specific instructions to make all of the parts.

James Watson, who along with Francis Crick was credited with the discovery of the DNA double helix and proposal of the "fundamental dogma of molecular Biology", said

"DNA makes RNA, RNA makes proteins, and proteins make us."

The human genome is like a parts list because it contains the complete set of instructions needed to build and maintain a human being, much like how a parts list contains all the components needed to assemble a machine or system. Just as a parts list guides the construction of a complex structure, the human genome guides the development and functioning of a human body by encoding all the necessary genetic information.

What is a complete list of nucleotide sequence in a individuals chromosome?

It is not possible to provide a complete list of nucleotide sequences on an individual's chromosome in a single answer, as each chromosome contains millions of nucleotides. The human genome has over 3 billion base pairs, which make up the DNA on 23 pairs of chromosomes. The sequence can vary between individuals due to genetic variations.

What term is defined as a list of every nucleotide base for a species of organisms?

genome

Where can I find a list of body parts?

You can find a list of human body parts in anatomy textbooks, medical websites, or anatomy charts. These resources typically categorize body parts into systems such as the skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, etc.

Who won the human genome project?

The Human Genome Project was an international collaborative effort, so it can't be said that one specific individual or organization "won" it. The project aimed to map and sequence all the genes in the human genome, with the end result being publicly available information for research and medical purposes.

Human cheek cells are epithelial cells which are highly specialized for protection List some of the functions that these cells cannot carry out?

Human cheek cells cannot carry out functions such as producing hormones, transporting oxygen in the bloodstream, or contracting like muscle cells. Additionally, they are not able to form synaptic connections for neurotransmission like neurons.

How has the human genome project been extended?

Two different teams of researchers worked on what we now know as the Human Genome ProjectWhat they achieved was a list of how the combination of 4 letters used in genetics details how people ( humans) are assembled. One reason they did the research is the list of things-that-go-wrong-with-people / genetic diseases could not be fully understood without understanding the genome of humansSince then the genetic code of a long list of other animals has enabled medicine to find cures for otherwise incurable conditions
