If light was to suddenly stop, photosynthesis would stop. The driving energy behind photosynthesis is chemical energy which is created directly from sunlight. Without photosynthesis a build up of carbon would occur and humans and animals would come to and end.

Without photosynthesis, plants would not be able to convert sunlight into energy, leading to a disruption in the food chain. This would cause a decline in oxygen production and an increase in carbon dioxide levels, impacting global climate and ultimately affecting all living organisms' survival.

Then autotrophic species would not be able to survive. There would be a collapse in the food chain of every habitat and a possible mass extinction.

Another possibility is that plants would have evolved to do chemosynthesis, another autotrophic strategy that is used by plants in the deep ocean where light is not available.

The vast majority of life (99.999%) would die. Anything that relies on plants or algae to survive would succumb. Some lifeforms that relies on alternative means of survival, such as bacteria living around deep sea thermal vents, would continue to live and may even thrive as competing organisms are eliminated. However, all 'macrolife', including humans and plants, would die.

Can humans live without photosynthesis?

No, humans cannot live without photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants and other organisms convert sunlight into energy, which ultimately sustains all life on Earth by producing oxygen and organic molecules that serve as food sources. Without photosynthesis, there would be no oxygen to breathe and no food to eat, making human survival impossible.

What is photosynthesis important in the carbon cycle?

Photosynthesis is important in the carbon cycle because it is the process by which plants, algae, and some bacteria convert carbon dioxide from the atmosphere into organic compounds like glucose. This removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping to regulate the Earth's climate and providing the foundation of the food chain for all living organisms.

What cannot occur without carbon dioxide?

Photosynthesis in plants cannot occur without carbon dioxide, as it is a key component of the process. Without carbon dioxide, plants would not be able to produce glucose and oxygen through the photosynthesis process.

What would happen if oxygen were not produced during photosynthesis?

Well, darling, if oxygen decided to take a day off during photosynthesis, we'd all be in a world of hurt. You see, oxygen is kind of a big deal for us living creatures - we need it to breathe and survive. Without oxygen being produced during photosynthesis, we'd be gasping for air faster than you can say "photosynthesis."

What role does the sun play in photosynthesis?

The sun provides the energy needed for photosynthesis to occur. During photosynthesis, plants capture sunlight through their chlorophyll pigments and convert it into chemical energy in the form of glucose (sugar), which serves as food for the plant. Without the sun's energy, photosynthesis would not be able to take place.

What would happen to photosynthesis in a plant grown that doesnt have water?

Photosynthesis in plants cannot occur without water.

Does photosynthesis requires chlorophyll?

Chlorophyll is an essential factor for the process of Photosynthesizing. Without Chlorophyll, Photosynthesis cannot happen.

Why do you need photosynthesis?

without photosynthesis there would be no life on earth... therefor you would not exist.

What would happen if a plant did not have chloroplast?

The plant would die. Chloroplast turns light into energy and without energy the plant would eventually die.

What do you think would happen to a club fungus if it was placed in an environment with no light?

A club fungus placed in an environment with no light would likely struggle to perform photosynthesis, which is critical for its growth and survival. Without access to light, the club fungus may have limited energy production, affecting its ability to thrive and reproduce. It may also experience challenges in finding nutrients without light to guide its growth towards potential food sources.

What would happen if a plant cell did not have chloroplasts?

They will die if they will die we will also die.

Why is water a important part of photosynthesis?

The equation for photosynthesis is: Carbon dioxide + Water --> Glucose + Oxygen CO2 + H2O --> C6H12O6 + O2 So without water photosynthesis cannot happen.

What would happen if there was no carbon dioxide in the air?

Tho photosynthesis is impossible.

What do you think would happen to a club if it was placed in an environment with no light?

nothing would happen because fungi dont carry out photosynthesis.

What will happen to photosynthesis if ther is no light?

Photosynthesis cannot occur without light as it is the process by which plants convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of glucose. Without light, plants would not be able to produce their own food through photosynthesis, ultimately leading to a lack of energy and nutrients that are essential for their growth and survival.
