Cholecystokinin (CCK) is a peptide hormone produced in the duodenum and released in response to the presence of fatty acids and amino acids in the small intestine. It plays a key role in digestion by stimulating the release of bile from the gallbladder and pancreatic enzymes. CCK also acts as a hunger suppressant by signaling to the brain that the stomach is full.
