Research is what most Marine biologists do. In research 10% is doing the research 70% is writing for grants and 20% is teaching at the university where your are employed.

Some do consulting for industries that could harm the marine environment. This group is greyer than the former group as they can be put in posistions to "bend facts" to earn a living or keep their jobs.

Research doesn't pay a great deal 35,000 to 55,000 industry pays better but there is that grey thing.

A marine biologist studies marine organisms and their environments to understand their behavior, physiology, and ecosystems. Their work can involve conducting research, collecting data in the field or lab, and analyzing findings to help with conservation efforts. Salaries for marine biologists vary depending on their level of education, experience, the specific industry they work in, and geographic location, but the average salary in the US is around $63,000 per year.
