Transcription is the process in which a gene's DNA sequence is copied into messenger RNA (mRNA) by RNA polymerase. This process is similar to DNA replication in that both processes involve the synthesis of nucleic acids using a DNA template, but in transcription only a specific segment of DNA is transcribed into RNA rather than the entire genome being replicated.
One of the way in which these both process are similar is that in both these process DNA is used as template. In replication, DNA is synthesised on DNA template and in transcription the DNA template is used for the synthesis of RNA molecule.
But the most striking feature is the mechanism of action of DNA and RNA polymerase. both have Mg2+ as cofactor. both these enzymes add one nucleotide at a time. Moreover, both the enzymes forms phosphodiester bond between the Phosphate group and the 3' Carbon of pentose sugar.
The process of making RNA from DNA is called transcription. During transcription, a RNA polymerase enzyme reads the DNA template and synthesizes a complementary RNA molecule.
Transcription. DNA serves as the template for the synthesis of RNA molecules through transcription. During transcription, the information encoded in the DNA is transcribed into a complementary RNA sequence by RNA polymerase.
Translation is to protein as transcription is to RNA. Transcription is the process by which RNA is synthesized from DNA, while translation is the process by which proteins are synthesized from RNA.
The process of making mRNA from the code in DNA is called transcription. During transcription, the enzyme RNA polymerase binds to the DNA template and synthesizes a complementary mRNA strand by adding nucleotides in the 5' to 3' direction.
If the RNA is messenger RNA (mRNA), the process is called transcription. There are other types of RNA that are synthesized using DNA as a template, such as transfer RNA (tRNA) and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). Unlike mRNA, these are gene products, and the term "transcription" is not used when they are made.

Transcription.During transcription the base sequence (genetic code) of part (a gene) of one strand of DNA is copied onto a strand of RNA as the RNA is synthesized.
