Yes, it is an organ that doctors remove frequently. But they haven't proved scientifically that we don't 'need' the appendix. Because it sits on the end of the colon and scientists haven't able to discover the 'purpose' for it, some doctors remove it whenever they're doing any other type of surgery, even if it's not inflamed. No Human appendix is not a organ it is just a finger like structure pointing out from the basal part or you can say the distal part of the large intestine. It is of no use in humans any more but it had a function in our ancestors but it lost its function in the gradual course of evolution.
