Yes, the Oak tree is deciduous.

However there are afew species of Oak that hang onto many of their leaves through all the seasons. These are considered evergreen Oaks because they can stay green all year long. One such Oak is the Live oak from the southern part of the United States.

beech is a hardwood. this means it is from a broad leaf tree which looses it's leaves in the autumn (or fall in USA). it does not mean that it is harder than wood from a conifer which does not loose it's leaves in the autumn for example yew is a softwood but it is usually very brittle and hard to work.
