In calculating a the number of species in an area and comparing with other species. The combination of biology with maths is called biometry.

The maths is also used in Geometrical calculations, and so on....

Math is used in marine Biology to analyze and model complex ecosystems, understand population dynamics, track migration patterns, and study the effects of environmental factors such as temperature, salinity, and nutrient levels on marine organisms. Mathematical models help researchers make predictions about how marine species will respond to changes in their habitat and can also be used to design effective conservation and management strategies.

Mathematics is the language of science. Scientific breakthroughs could not have been made without the power of mathematics. With new discoveries in mathematics, it is possible to describe and understand scientific theories in new ways.

A couple of examples: Without the mathematical concept of derivatives, physisists wouldn't have had a precise way of modelling or predicting the relationship between speed and acelleration. Withouth the mathematical concept of flux, pipeline engineers would have had a hard time calculating the liquid flow in pipe systems. Without Fermat/Euler's achievements in number theory, secure communication over the internet (bank services, secure e-mails etc) would look completely different (or might not have been available at all).

So with advancements in mathematical theory, science can also make new advancements. Of course, a scientist can produce stunning results withouth advanced mathematics, but well known mathematical concepts was at some point in history concidered new and revolutionary. The key point is anyway that any science would be severly crippled withouth a language, and it happens to be that mathematics is the primary language of all sciences. (Can you name a science that doesn't deeply depend on mathematics? I know I can't)

What's so special about mathematics is that it always seeks the ultimate truth. For instance, I can say that there are infinitely many prime numbers, and this will be true eternally. At no point in the future will this not be true. Through rigorous logical steps, mathematics is built brick by brick, resulting in a massive, rock-steady monument of undoubtable truths. No matter how much you are struggling with your scientific theory, you can always trust that the mathematics behind it will not fail you. This makes mathematics such a great backbone of the scientific world.

What is the difference between marine biology and aquatic biology?

Marine biology specifically focuses on the study of organisms and ecosystems in saltwater environments like oceans and seas. Aquatic biology, on the other hand, encompasses the broader study of all organisms and ecosystems in any type of water environment, including freshwater bodies like lakes and rivers in addition to saltwater environments.

What career cluster does marine biology fall under?

Marine biology typically falls under the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) career cluster as it involves the study of living organisms and their interactions with the marine environment.

What degree do you need to be a marine biologists?

To become a marine biologist, you typically need a bachelor's degree in marine biology, biology, zoology, or a related field. Higher education, such as a master's or doctoral degree, may be required for more advanced research positions. Experience through internships and fieldwork is also valuable in this field.

What education do you need to have to be a Marine Biologist?

To become a marine biologist, you typically need a bachelor's degree in marine biology or a related field such as biology or oceanography. Many positions, especially research or academic roles, may require a higher degree such as a master's or Ph.D. in marine biology. gaining experience through internships or fieldwork can also be beneficial in this field.

What GCSEs do you need to be a marine biologist?

To become a marine biologist, it is recommended to have GCSEs in science subjects such as biology and chemistry. Additionally, subjects like mathematics and geography can also be useful. It is advisable to check with specific universities for their entry requirements.
