A virus is made of DNA or RNA (never both) covered by a protein capsule called a capsid which may also be covered an envelope of more protein, carbohydrates (sugar) or lipids(fat).

The different coatings allow the virus to trick the cell it is attacking to let the virus inside. This is why non-enveloped viruses are easy for the body to destroy and enveloped viruses are hard to recognize and destroy

A virus can be made of DNA or RNA along with protein and sometimes lipids. The nucleic acid (DNA or RNA) contains the genetic information, while the protein and lipids help protect and deliver the genetic material to host cells.
