You should not use local anesthesia with an epilator. The numbing can cause you to over use the epilator and cause injury.
I have the exact same epilator and it does the same thing. Drives me nuts. I have done a lot of research, and have found that the Emjoi is better because it has 72 tweezers. They are much more expensive, but this is a case where you really get what you pay for. The Emjoi Emagine is the best rated epilator. I would replace it as soon as you set some money aside!
