∙ 14y agoIf it's a municipal facility then you should be just fine. If it's your own hot tub just be sure the chemical treatment is within safe limits and again you should be good. Here's the skinny, your neighbour's hot tub may not be the cleanest or best maintained tub in town.
That's where you should be concerned about infection and other nasty things. As long as hot tubs are treated correctly and maintained there is no issue. But with any body of water you need to be sure you are rinsing and washing your piercing out after partaking in activities in pools, hot tubs, lakes, oceans. Happy Piercings.
For the first 6-8 weeks I would stay out of pools and Hot tubs why risk it? You never know what someone else has done in the water????
The chemicals are drying and can make you itch then you want to scratch and if you are not near a shower it may be hours before you can rinse off.

∙ 14y agoNot. They are dangerous. They can easily get infected. Don't base your decision on one random answer. Properly provided and cared for navel piercings are just fine. Once healed you have hundreds of navel gem and navel jewellery variations to choose from. Be smart, buy only from well respected vendors. Have your piercing done by a licensed professional body piercer and follow the aftercare instructions, should you have and issue see your piercer for assistance. Navels are hot!
The best way to know if your new piercing is infected is by the visual appearance. If the piercing is red or inflamed, it may be infected. It also may be hot to the touch.
Yes.
no it is dangerous
No.
2-3 times a day with anti-bacterial soap (dial bar soap works best) and you should use h2oceans spray for body piercings (you can find it at hot topic) at least 3-6 times a day do not use any wound washes,anti-bacterial ointments or sprays such as bactine...it kills all germs including the germs that help heal...
The first thing to consider is where your belly button is located on your belly. It seems silly, but the hardest navel piercings to heal and most likely to become infected are those where your belly button falls right in the middle of your natural waist line when you bend over or sit down. Sit down, and look at your belly button. If your natural crease is on top of or obscures your navel, this makes it more likely that the piercing will have a very difficult time healing. Those located just slightly further down are not subject to the same jarring movements and are much less likely to become irritateed. Also, certain clothing choices will also help to keep your piercing happy. Avoid pant lines that sit right at your navel. Wear pants or skirts, etc. that sit about an inch below your piercing. There is nothing worse than to catch a new piercing on something, and buttons and zippers are no exception. Avoid tight, non-natural fabrics during the healing phase. Bike shorts, spandex, anything that will keep the piercing from breathing or allow sweat to settle onto the piercing is a bad thing. If you work out frequently, you need to be hyper-vigilant about aftercare. Make sure you shower as soon as you can after working out, or at least take the time to thoroughly wash out your navel with natural soap, if possible. No perfumes, etc. Also, at a minimum, soak salt the piercing once a day. You mix sea salt (NOT Epsom salt and not table salt) with warm water until its saltiness closely matches the saltiness of your tears. Put in a shot glass, small cup, or the little plastic cup that comes on the top of "the pink stuff". Lean your piercing over the cup and then lay down (with a towel) for about 10 minutes. The salt is a natural cleanser and will dramatically reduce how long the percing takes to heal. So, as long as you're smart about it, piercing your navel if you work out frequently isn't bad or doen't make it more likely to get infected or reject. Just be careful with it and don't get lazy about aftercare if things look good. Lazy aftercare = hot, irritated, slowly-rejecting-itself funky piercings, and that's not sexy. "The majority do not allow you to enter if you have a tattoo, or a visible piercing that isn't the usual ear piercing."

If it's healed, yes.
It can either be due to two things. Firstly, it could be that your piercing has become infected. In this case, make sure you wash hands thoroughly with hot water and soap before touching it. Apply either warm salt water or tea tree oil around the piercing with a cotton bud twice daily for two weeks. Do not touch it more than necessary. It could also be use to the quality of the bar itself. A low silver or sterling content can leave a mark around the piercing. If so, change to a higher quality bar, and the mark will eventually disappear.
