For fondation color it all depends on your skin tone. Although you don't want to get a fondation color that completely matches your skin. You want to get a shade that's 1 to 2 shades darker. This replaces a self-tanner/ bronzer. If you do get a color exactly like your skin it defeats the purpose of a fondation, because it would be the same as a concealer.
