If it looks like its getting oily I wash it. If not, over washing can cause frizzes, and also heat can cause it, lots of stuff can. From your water to salt in the air, to just your hairs natural thing. So I would try washing it less often and conditioning it when you do. I had trouble with this at first, because I like to wash my hair everyday, but it is naturally curly and I just can't.
