Any abnormal change, pain or aching that lasts for more than two days may be a sign of lip infection. It is most likely to notice these changes when you yawn, laugh or stretch your lips. Other common signs are: swollen, red or pale site, severe inflammation or even eczema, irritation or burning sensation, or in severe situations, you may experience discharges with foul smell and yellow pus.
It is highly recommended to visit your physician as soon as your notice any of the above mentioned sign around your lip piercing.
When you do not care or when you yank it
You would have a bubble on your three year old lip piercing if the piercing is damaged or infected. The piercing can become infected if the jewelry does not fit correctly.

NEVER take out your piercing if it is infected. Doing so can cause an abscess. The piercing will close and trap the infection inside
