If you're talking about less than 5 pounds, then it's possible if you're discipline enough. Just eat 2/3 of what you normally eat. Losing more weight than that in a week is unhealthy and most likely result in rebound weight gain.

It would depend on how much you wanted to lose. If you want to lose weight quickly for some event, there are many fad diets out there including the cabbage soup diet, lemonade diet etc. You can lose a lot of weight at once if you do a cleanse or detox as well(which is not in any way unhealthy) If you are more interested in losing weight more effectively for long term, the healthy weight loss would be about 1-2 lbs per week. In which case you would need to have a calorie deficit of 500-1000 calories a day. This can be done by finding out your Basal metabolic rate (there are many internet calculators) and then subtracting 500-1000 calories, and then eat that much every day. But make sure to not go under 1200 calories because then your body may go into starvation mode and hold on to all the fat. Another method I've heard of is called calorie shifting, in which you change your intake drastically from day to day. This is supposed to cause fast weight loss.
