I have natrally pencil straight hair so its super hard to scrunch. But I've found an easier way to do it. I would rather take showers in the morning so what I do is after I get done shampooing amd conditioning, I towel dry my hair very lightly. This always works best on damp hair.
Anyways, after that I use a mega mega hold styling gel to scrunch. Then i put my hair in a bun and do my make and other stuff. This takes about 20 minutes. After I scrunch one more time with the gel before continuing. I found these really great products that work great with straight hair. One is called Curl Life Defing System by Matrix, the other is called Curly Sexy Hair. These are really easy to use because they are numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4. All you have to do is follow the steps. After you've done that spray a firm hold hairspray onto the scrunched parts on your hair. The last thing I do is use a product called Kera Pro Restorative by Naturelle. This keeps your hIr from frizzing. Put some of this in the palm of your hair and massage in like your washing your hair. Give your hair another good scrunch and you should be good to go.
BTW: I didn't brush my hair because it breaks your hair, so I use a comb in the shower ( or after). This is the only time I comb my hair becase it could become frizzy if I did it any other time.
Hope I helped!!
I have the same problem but what i do is put it in a bun at night then take it out in the morning then use some kind of curling spray and damp my hair, dry it then i put mousse in it and scrunch it in my hair.
I have straight hair and even after I take a shower and I scrunch my hair.... I doesn't always turn out to be curly!! But I guess that's just my hair. Actually, that often works quite well. You could also try putting a little curling pomade in the hair before you scrunch it.
What works for my straight hair is scrunching while it's damp, use a little hairspray or mousse and scrunch some more; then use a diffuser on my hairdryer to set it. (And since my hair doesn't always "scrunch" evenly, I have a wavy curling iron to touch up the straighter areas.)
You have to use a very strong gel in wet hair then let it dry in a bun or scrunch and blow dry it at the same time but before blow drying put hair spray on and the do the drying and it will last through out the night

after getting out of shower flip hair over. Put some mousse in hand. start from back. scrunch up your hair like your making a fist. Repeat over entire head.

my hair is naturally really straight and it never curls or scrunches! but i found a way that makes it scrunch that looks really pretty! first take a sower and when you get out brush ur hair then dry it a little after that you can use gel and run it through your hair then put your hair in a ponytail and put it in a bun put a lot of hair ties in it and put them on the big bun creating little ones leave it like this for a day if your hair is hard to curl keep spraying it with hairspray or gel during the day then if your hair is hard to curl leave it like this for a day and a half but if your hair scrunches easily leave it for a day i hope this works and remember dont touch it alot!
