This essentially means cornrowing the hair. That can be done just as-is, or it can be used for sewing in a weave. Then thread can be used for sewing the track hair to the braids.
You can just start with a 3-strand braid of the desired size. You would part it the way you would want to braid it and as you braid, you add new hair from the scalp as you reach each side of the braid. When you run out of scalp, then you can just continue as a normal 3-strand braid.

Very tightly. But not too tight. If you braid too tightly you could have hair loss. Just remember threes should be no pain, strain on the scalp, small bumps and no headaches...these are all indicators of braids or cornrows that are too tight.

To make cornrows, start by dividing hair into sections and then begin braiding close to the scalp, adding small sections of hair as you braid. Continue braiding all the way down and secure the end with a rubber band or hair tie. Repeat this process for each section of hair until your desired cornrow style is achieved.
