The best jewelry to use for them is 1/2" long 14g barbells that are internally threaded. If these are being bothersome, move over to PTFE barbells. Some people prefer them due to their bendiness, but it is for that reason that some don't like them too.

What is the length and the gauge size of a Jacob's or frenum ladder piercing?

Your piercer will pick the best fit for your jewelry. Not really a way to find out unless you ask them.

How do you measure body jewelry?

Hi, body jewelry is measured in two ways-the thickness (gauge) and the size of the wearable area. The high the gauge, the thinner the jewelry. A typical tongue barbell is 14 gauge, 5/8". The 5/8" refers to the length of the shaft that actually goes through the tongue.

How big is a 0 gauge?

The gauge is the thickness of the jewelry (Usually the thickness of the wire the jewelry is made from but may also be the diameter of a plug or eyelet). From 20 gauge to 00 gauge, the smaller the number is, the thicker the jewelry is. After 00, the diameter of body jewelry is usually measured in fractional inches A 0 or 5/16" gauge is 0.325 decimal inches or 8.251 millimeters

What size circular barbell would you get if the length is 14 and gauge 1.6?

I have no idea what you mean!... Standard gauges are 18 (regular earrings), 16 (smallest gauge of body jewelry, generally), 14 (also very standard) and then 12 and lower is getting to be large gauge for stretching. "1.6 gauge" does not exist, since gauges come in increments of 2 (and 0 gauge is an inch thick and very few people have such stretched holes!) And 14 WHAT? Millimeters? And if you know how long the jewelry is, and the gauge, then what size is left for you to be asking about?

What does gauge mean in relation to body jewelry?

When talking of body jewelry and piercing, gauge refers to the size of the body jewelry being used. To be specific, gauge size determines the thickness or the width of the jewelry. That portion of the body jewelry, which actually goes inside your skin, is measured in gauge size. For instance, if you were using a barbell for a piercing, then the gauge size would not be the measure of the two balls at the ends of the barbell, but would indicate the thickness of the bar in between the two balls. As the number of the gauge size goes higher, the thickness of the jewelry becomes lesser. Hence, a barbell of gauge size 12 would be thinner than one that was a gauge size 10. 16 gauge size jewelry is considered to be ideal for new piercings. The thicker your jewelry gets, the lower the gauge size will become. Gauge size 0 and 00 are the thickest (00 being thicker than 0). Once some piece of body jewelry exceeds this thickness, it is no longer measured in gauge size but in fractions and full inches. Gauge is particularly important for ear stretching body jewellery. Smaller gauges go up in parts of milimetres (e.g. 1.6mm, 2.0mm, 2.4mm, 3.2mm) and then go up in whole mm's from 4.0mm to 8.0mm. There is then usually a jump to 10mm, then 12, 14, 16, 19 and so on. Expanders are used to increase the gauge of a stretched piercing gradually. PTFE tape can also be used to increase the size of a piece of jewellery gradually.
