People prefer different things depending on their background. Some girls prefer intelligent men to the rich ones, while others prefer the rich ones to the intelligent ones. So they are no particular method, but just an individual thing.
It makes much more sense to stick with fundamentals; when your children are little, only the adults will care about brand names, when they are old enough to notice, you should consider your children's school and playmates apparel so your children don't stand out and remember that fashionable kids clothes won't be in fashion when you try to hand them down to the younger ones.

the fashion is skinny some what ripped jeans. flip flops. not the ones you wear to the pool the dressier kind. a t shirt with some sort of flare to it. NO COLLARS! go to abercrombie. the have the most stylish clothes. ALL of my clothes are from there. except a few items. if you want fashionable tween clothes try pacsun, Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, Gilly Hicks, wet seal, Zumiez, etc.

I find woollen ones to be itchy, I prefer cotton ones myself.
