Two ways: Heat Marcel stove. 1.) Rub irons liberally with either a heavy pressing oil or a wax such as Dax Bees Wax. Place iron in stove and heat until red hot. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED. Remove, cool a bit and wipe down with white heavy clothe. Careful not to burn yourself. Repeating twice gets the best results this way. 2.) Heat irons until red hot. Cool a bit and CAREFULLY dip or rub liberally with a heavy pressing oil or a wax such as Dax Bees Wax. Remove excess oil or wax. Place iron(s) in marcel stove and reheat until 'red hot'. Remove. Cool and wipe down.

Hairspray is bad for hair in general, but the problem with dreadlocks is that if you hairspray them you won't be able to get it out of the dreads properly after that. There will always be some residue somewhere inside the dread. That is why you want to use products that are as natural as possible on them. also this is why dread wax makes no sense at all.
