because it's slippery... wet surfaces are slippery while dry is not
this is because there is less friction and it cant grip to the road as well
there is less traction when the roads are wet as the water creates a thin layer between the surface of the road and the tire. this means that the tires cannot grip onto the road and therefore skid
TIRES SKID ON WET SURFACES DUE TO THE WATER THAT COMES BETWEEN THE TIRES TRACTION SURFACES AND THE ROAD. DRIVE sLOWLY ON WET/ SLICK ROADS AND BE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD TIRES AND BRAKES ON YOUR VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES AS WELL AS PROPER INFLATION AND ALL SAFETY RELATED EQUIPMENT SUCH AS WIND. WIPERS, LIGHTS,(BRAKE,HEADLIGHTS,TURN SIGNALS,ETC) HAPPY MOTORING.

Less grip on the road surface. Bald tires are also more likely to hydroplane.
As there is no friction on the road, thus the road will not have friction that stop the car from moving.
hydroplaning

The bumpier the road, the more resistance the car has to move forward.
A car will need to travel 4 times as far at 100kms skid than the same car traveling at 50 kms.

If a person's car starts to skid on a road, turn the wheel in the direction of the skid. If the car is a front wheel drive, step on the gas pedal slightly. Real wheel drive vehicles require the operator to let off the gas pedal during the skid. Do not panic and slam on the brakes because this could cause the car to roll over when it gains traction.
Ears do not skid on icy roads; however, cars can skid due to reduced friction between the tires and the icy road surface. When a vehicle takes a curve too fast on ice, the tires lose traction and can slide, causing the car to skid. This is due to the lack of grip between the tires and the icy surface, leading to loss of control.
