that's because you probably don't have one. if the previous owner told you he put one in, he was lying. if YOU put one in, then somethings wrong with it.

Are Chevy caprices good in the mud?

If you get a Caprice with posi they aren't to bad in bad conditions, but they are still a car and not equipped with 4 wheel drive. Chevy Caprice's had decent ground clearance comppared to other cars though which could perhaps allow them to travel through muddier conditions.

Why does my 97 Tacoma only turn 1 of the rear wheels?

It is not equipped with posi traction. It's a one wheel peel.

What is it called when it isn't positive traction?

the correct term is posi-traction which refers to the power to the differential then to the rear wheels, a posi-traction equipped vehicle provides power to both drive wheels if one of the wheels starts to slip, a non posi-traction vehicle only drives one rear wheel.

Some times when you slow down your rear end starts to shake and when wet out you cant get traction and only one wheel will spin and it is always the right one?

possiblediff or drive shaft/ujoint issue for the shake, only one wheel will spin unless it's a posi rear diff. If it's a posi diff it's got internal problems

How do you tell if your car has a positive rear end?

I assume you mean posi-trac rear end. Raise both drive wheels off the ground. Turn one wheel and if the other wheel travels in the same direction it is posi-trac.

Does a 1995 Chevy Caprice lt1 have rear posi?

not necessarily. Easiest way to check is to jack up the rear of the car to get both wheels off the ground. Don't forget to chock the front wheels. Put the car in neutral and spin one wheel forward by hand. If the other wheel spins forward, you have posi. If it spins the opposite direction, you have an open end rear. Also, on posi rears, GM usually put a small aluminum tag on one of the inspection plate bolts specifying what type of fluid to use. This is not a sure fire way to tell, though because it may have disappeared years ago.
