Disconnect the negative battery cable for a minute or two is the least expensive way. You can also use a code reader plugged into the data link connector under the steering wheel to clear the codes. If the problem isn't fixed, the light will come back on. Even if the light is off and the problem isn't fixed, the car might not pass an emissions test.
