When you hit a bump or the shock compresses and never decompresses is a good sign. Your car might look like it is "lower" than normal as well.
Go to the front or back of your vehicle and bounce it up and down a few times to build momentum. Then leave it alone and watch how many times it continues to bounce after you let go. Good shocks will stop the bouncing in 3 bounces or less. More than that is an indication of failed or failing shocks.
An indication of a 'Blown-out' shock is the presence of oil covering the lower part of the shock.
Remember, shocks, like brakes, need to be replaced in pairs. Either both front or both rear.
When they start sqeeking mate
Bad shocks
Bad shocks, ball joints bad, tires out of balance. More then likely shocks.
Wear and tear shocks are made to wear out
yes you need new front shocks.
shocks/struts have nothing to do with how high the car rides.... you have bad springs, or too much junk in the trunk...
Out of alignment or bad shocks or struts
Probably bad shocks.
what are the symptoms of bad shocks on a car? When you brake while driving over a "wash board" area in the road, you have a hard time keeping the vehicle under control.
bad shocks or bad alignment.
if your shocks are bad change them first. Other wise it can mess up your new tires.
Yes if the shocks are bad it can allow a shake to happen It will also put a lot more stress on other things and cause them to wear out very fast Worn shocks can also allow tires to wear improperly so that they will shake also.
