Wheel shaking is caused by a balance problem, either a tire needs to be balanced, a wheel is bent or there is a problem with an axle.
HOWEVER!
Most vehicles can tolerate a tire/wheel that is a LITTLE out of balance provided that everything is functioning properly.
Among the list of things that must be functioning properly are the ball joints. Worn ball joints make the front end loose and the vehicle does not handle properly. If you suspect worn ball joints, replace them.
Yes, it can
The Ball Joints keep the wheel vertical as you go over bumps or make turns.

Strut, ball joints, roll-bar coupling, wheel bearing
front rotors or loose ball joints
Absolutely, yes... But in reality the shaking is usually a balance problem or shock/strut problem, it's just that worn ball joints will make the car A LOT more sensitive to even the slightest vibration source.
What make the steering wheel shake is the tires that need wheel balance.
no it will be your power steering pump it is worn or lowe on oil
The truck will "wander" going down the road with no movement to the steering wheel. Jack the wheels off the ground and try to move them as of they we turning a corner. If you get movement in one wheel and not the other, ball joints are shot.
It could be the ball bearings or the ball joints or the breaks but not to sure but that's what it was on mine.
sounds like your ball joints
Have the vehicle checkout, a ball joint should not make the car shake ( There are other components that would of been removed to change the ball joint. There is obviously something lose or installed incorrectly. Check the torque of the wheel nuts as a lose wheel may be the culprit. There is a possibility of steering or suspension failure, DO NOT drive the vehicle until it is repaired.
