A feeler gauge is actually a set of very fine strips of steel used to measure small gaps such as plug gap of an auto plug, or gaps in bearing surfaces.
Valve clearance of Volvo f12, are set using a feeler gauge on the lash adjuster.
You use a feeler gauge set to .006 in. Engine cold. You really should get the Bentley manual as you will need it. It has gobs if info in it.
Different manufactures have different specification for spark plug. Check your manual and set it using feeler gauge.
Use a feeler gauge to set the point gap at .016. .016 inches using a feeler gauge, 50 degrees dwell on a dwell meter using a 4 cylinder scale plus or minus 2 degrees (8 cylinder scale set at 25 degrees plus or minus 2). If the dwell is too high the points are too far closed. A dwell meter is by far the best method, but the feeler gauge is good to get you in the ballpark with new points.
You can fix a broken fuel gauge by using a brass hammer, brass punch, and standard socket set. You will first need to remove the fuse.
Yes. You use feeler gauge to set gap between sensor and crankshaft pully( .020 to .053)
most rockers do not have a torque spec depends on the engine some have a lash spec which has to be set with a feeler gauge but it is different for every engine
clearance will still be set with a feeler gauge to the same clearance, you will need to undo the tappet to allow for the removed head material.
you can go to any parts store and buy a feeler gauge for a couple of dollars. use that to set the air gap between the coil and the flywheel. use the oem specs
Set your valve lash to 0.006". You actually need two feeler gauges to do this--a .006 "go" gauge and a .008 "no go" gauge. When the .006 goes in and the .008 won't, you've got it. They used to say set the exhaust valves to .004. You tend to break valves at that clearance.
I always used a dwell meter to set them.....and that was 25 years ago. I think it's around .018 to .020 with a feeler gauge. I am not certain of that though.
