Why does my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lmtd 6-cylinder make a a clicking sound while the info display and rear lights flash on and off. This happens while car is on and off but does stop every so often.?

My guess would be that the clicking sound is the flasher relay operating. Its a mechanical switch in a metal housing and they all do that clicking thing. The question I would have about that is why it wouldn't be clicking at times. This relay iis located with the fuses and is a plug-in inexpensive item to repair.
