∙ 17y agoFreon in the AC system heats up very hot before it is sent through the condenser. The condenser is like a radiator, and is located right in front of the radiator of your car. As air passes through the condenser & the radiator , the hotter the condenser, the hotter the radiator will be. correct answer the temp goes up when using a/c as the motor is running at a higher speed to drive th a/c , therefore when idling the fan is not pulling anuff air over engine. a thrmatic fan will help with this

∙ 17y agoThermostat stuck open or no stat at all. Faulty temp sensor or Gauge.
It's broken
Commonly check the temp gauge on the dash.
Warmed car to operating temp with fan fuse pulled. Turned off ignition. Removed battery cable. This resets the computer. Put batt cable back on and fuse back in place and started the car. Temp gauge started working. (Sensor has to see temp within short amount of time to operate the gage.)
1min or 2 i like to wait till the temp gauge starts to move or let it get to normal temp.
Stuck open - no heat from heater, temp gauge hardly moves off of cold. Stuck closed - overheats engine, temp gauge quickly climbs to hot.
If you drive the car 10 miles, and it doesn't move.
Sounds to me the coolant temp sending unit has failed. Replace it with a new one.
A faulty thermostat might cause the temp gauge on the 2000 Nissan Altima to raise to hot when the car is not overheating. A faulty thermostat can cause the gauge to move up and down and might even turn the fan on.
you could have abad temp sensor
There isn't one. A warning light will appear if the car gets too hot
that is not a question
