My local gas station sells unleaded at 82.9p which works out (with the current exchange rate) to be $1.15, so in Scotland at the moment a gallon of gas (unleaded) is $5.22. However in the summer unleaded was up at £1.20 and diesel was up at £1.35 so at the time it was £6 a gallon, which with the exchange rate at the time it was something like $11 a gallon. The US gallon is 3.79 liters (imperial is 4.54) . so petrol retailing at $1.15 per litre is 'only' $4.35
