1994bmw318i check the idle soleniod
I believe that kicks on when the AC is turned on to raise the idle to compensate for the AC compressor load.
Problem is related to idle solenoid. As you come to a stop the throttle closes. There has to be a bypass to allow air to flow into the engine. This is acheived via an idle solenoid valve located somewhere to the intake manifold and it is controlled by the computer.
The idle speed control solenoid controls the idle of the engine when the air conditioning is engaged. Since the ac pump draws down the engine idle the solenoid increase the idle when the ac is on.
The Idle speed control serves a few functions such as increasing the idle when the vehicle is cold to keep it from stalling. It also responds to increased engine load such as when you turn on the air conditioning or turn the steering wheel at idle. Without the idle speed solenoid the vehicle would stall nearly every time you came to a stop.
there is no "fast idle solenoid" there has'nt been a fast idle adjustment on passenger cars in over 20 years
Year, make and model would be helpful here. Usally a sticking idle air control solenoid.
The 5.7L does not have an idle solenoid. The idle speed is controlled by the throttle plate opening via its internal motor.
you dont say what year this car is,but if it has a computer, the problem will be in the idle control solenoid if no computer in car, it could be one of many problems in carburetter such as the needle and seat, the float level,or the idle just not adjusted correctly
May have an idle solenoid on the left side of carb.
It is not adjustable. It is computer controlled. If idle speed is incorrect you have a vacuum leak or a sensor/solenoid issue. It is not adjustable. It is computer controlled. If idle speed is incorrect you have a vacuum leak or a sensor/solenoid issue.
