this could happen if your timing is way off (way to advanced) or your timing chain could have jumped a tooth or its just really stretched out and in need of a new one, could also be from your valves not being adjusted correctly. most likely a timing issue though, i'd check that first before ripping it appart to check more severe problems
Worn camshaft, bent pushrod, burned intake valve, incorrect firing order,
yes, backfiring is always due to ignition or timing problems. Backfiring through the carb can be a symptom of a lean condition.
A carburetor air intake screen.
If it is running at the time it back fires your timing is off about 22 degrees. if it happnes when you are trying to start it then you timing is off 180 degrees.... Your intake valve is open when the spark plug fires.
probably 180 deg out on timing
u have an intake valve bent or sticking open. run a compression check with all the plugs out and butterfly to carb open.
AnswerSounds to me that your vehicle is off time. Check the timing on it. If the timing is off it will backfire through the carb and also if it is cross wired (firing order wrong) it will backfire through the carb.
Several things can cause this. Low fuel pressure due to faulty pump or filter or injectors, inaccurate ignition timing, wrong spark plug routing, intake valve not fully closing, excessive carbon on the intake valve, sometimes it can even be as simple as bad sensor. Those are general causes. Corvetteforum.com is a good resource to discuss with fellow enthusiasts.
Plug wires installed incorrectly. Click the link.
Yes...all valves bent...smacked piston...good old interference engines. Started cranking really fast cause valves stuck open from overheat then...BAM...backfire out intake after only 15seconds of cranking...Head back off again. answering own question. Impossible to say. You need to find out why it backfired. Suggest you do a compression test.
That would be a 700R4
Timing is out your distributor could be one eighty out try turning it one eighty.
